About the role

 

Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a Piping Designer to join our Liquefied Gas Equipment (LGE) Division. We design and supply cargo handling systems for liquefied gas ships across the globe. LGE is an incredibly innovative and diverse business with patented designs working with LPG, LNG, Ethane, Ethylene and new projects with CO2.

 

Our Head Office is in Rosyth, with most projects mainly in South Korea and China at the biggest shipyards in the world. With a diverse product portfolio in numerous markets, we offer an exciting opportunity to join an ever-growing business with longevity. You will be part of an experienced and supportive team of Engineers and you will collaborate with numerous engineering departments.

 

As the Piping Designer you will generate 2D and 3D drawings related to liquefied gas carriers and other oil & gas marine projects using AutoCAD and Bentley AutoPLANT. You will develop plant layouts, skid structures and pipework arrangement 3D models and produce output drawings.  Generate Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and participate in design review and client pipework reviews.

 

What do I need to do to do the role?

 

You will have demonstrable experience working in a relevant CAD role producing high quality 3D piping models, plant layout and piping isometric drawings. Ideally from a Marine or High Hazard industry with a HNC in a relevant discipline.

 

We would also like you to have the following;

• Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative design team.
• Excellent general awareness of process piping components, routing practices, in line equipment and instrumentation interfaces.
• Ability to competently interpret P&IDs.
• Commercial design astuteness and appreciation of the practical impact of design decisions. 

 

Lastly you will be highly motivated with good attention to detail, and be a clear and confident verbal and written communicator.
