About the Role
Here at Babcock International Group in Rosyth, we are currently looking for a Civil Engineer to join us. We deliver engineering-led and world-leading products and services across our Engineering, Specialised Manufacturing, Gas Handling Systems and Naval Marine business streams.

 

Babcock Rosyth is home to one of the largest waterside manufacturing and repair facilities in the UK. With a footprint of 300 acres and a fabrication area where you could comfortably park 1,169 buses, Babcock’s Rosyth site boasts 25 covered manufacturing bays with specially widened doors that can accommodate even the largest of projects.

 

As a Civil Engineer, you will ensure the Design and Configuration of systems and structures is fit for purpose and the systems/structures conform to the design intent throughout the design life, provide and approve design of engineering output within Facilities Business unit in accordance with the requirements set and be the Design Authority for Site Civil Engineering.


Tasks and Activities:
• Manage civil engineering and construction projects – Manage projects that are principally civil engineering or construction projects, in line with site Development/Rationalisation plan.
• Develop Project and Business Infrastructure Requirements –Liaise with stakeholders to develop and deliver requirements for modifying existing, and constructing new, infrastructure on site to support project and business requirements.
• Provide Civil and Structural asset assurance – Lead inspection and assurance of civil and structural assets on site to ensure safe, continued availability of assets and compliance with regulations and industrial codes of practice.
• Ensure project team CPD is delivered – Deliver civil engineering and construction technology CPD seminars across the Facilities Business Unit.
• Be the site Civil Engineering Design Authority – Maintain the capability to understand the totality of the designs under the civils DA remit. Assess the continued adequacy of designs and infrastructure in accordance with regulatory change and developing best practice. 
• Temporary works responsible person – In line with BS5975 code of practice for temporary works, be the responsible person on site, ensuring compliance with BS 5975 for design, installation and use of temporary works on site.


What do I need to do the role?
You will need to have a degree in a Civil Engineering discipline and experience within an Engineering/Industrial environment. You will also need to have experience of the full construction lifecycle from definition through to commissioning and post occupancy.

 

Desirably, we would also like you to have a professional qualification (e.g. ICE/APMP or equivalent) or a Post Graduate Diploma in Construction Project Management.


You should hold or have the ability to obtain full SC clearance.
