The role
As a Shipbuilding Functional Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will provide strategic guidance to enhance operations, driving improvements in productivity, resourcing, training, technology, and compliance.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide functional leadership for all personnel in the team and advise business support functions and Operations Director of operational requirements. You will also:
- Manage and regularly review the organisation competency framework ensuring the teams have the competence and skills to allow delivery of Programme schedules. Review of pipeline activities to understand future demands.
- Drive a Quality learning culture, recognising Best Practice and ensuring continuous implementation of improvement ideas.
- Responsible for enabling and developing improved productivity across all Operations personnel.
- Build and maintain effective liaison with Marine Sector teams, including to enable alignment and best practice in safety, quality and operational excellence.
- Ensure utilisation levels are managed and maximised across all areas of Operations.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Shipbuilding Functional Lead
- Demonstrable experience in project/programme delivery at a senior management level
- Leadership and change management in multi discipline environment
- Demonstrable capability and experience in manage large programmes or large site operations.
- Demonstration of a high level of understanding of project management and controls process, tools, and techniques across complex projects
- Proven capability in successfully leading multi-discipline teams, including major sub-contractors.
Qualifications for the Shipbuilding Functional Lead
- Relevant degree (or equivalent experience)
- Membership of a recognised professional institution
