The role
As a Ship Electrical Discipline Lead you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The role is accountable for the electrical strategy to safely install and set to work the electrical elements of the ship.The development of the strategy will involve liaison between engineering, operations teams and SMEs to ensure all elements of the work is considered and prepared for.
The role will be responsible for agreeing the activities and budgets and will support the CAM in achieving the quality and schedule requirement for the programme.
This role will be tasked on projects, parts of a major project or in support of multiple projects.
Day-to-day, you’ll be:
- Setting production strategy, standards and targets to ensure that packages of work are completed on time and on budget and ensuring that only authorised work is undertaken in alignment with project controls. Covering internal teams and sub-contractor packages where applicable.
- Take ownership of the quality and schedule delivery of total delegated work package and strive to deliver efficiency improvement. Cost will be an outcome of the above.
- Ensure that sufficient control mechanisms and performance indicators are in place to measure performance and highlight variance. Involvement in the understanding of Budget and the setting of “norms”.
- Identify and agree resource requirements against the plan and budget and conduct weekly reviews to accurately forecast resource requirements in line with overall project resource plan and the Integrated Business Review (IBR) process.
- Manage team performance and develop the capability of team members based on business needs, this includes talent management and succession planning.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Ship Electrical Discipline Lead
- Recent and relevant experience in a similar environment / business sector: preferably marine
- A background in an electrical trade would be an advantage.
- Proficient knowledge/application of ERP toolsets eg IFS/SAP etc
- Full construction lifecycle experience from manufacturing through to commissioning.
- Experience in partnering process and arrangements.
- Experience in project management and project execution.
- Experience in project controls, budgets and commercial Terms and Conditions
Qualifications for the Ship Electrical Discipline Lead
- ONC in a relevant construction trade as a minimum or an engineering qualification
- A professional qualification in electrical engineering or electrical heavy industrial process/construction.
- Project Management qualifications desirable
