The role

The Service Support Engineer shall report directly to the Warranty Manager (Rosyth, Scotland). Working closely with the CI&E and Projects Departments, the engineer provides warranty and aftersales support to our client’s vessels both remotely from the office base, and as required through on board attendance during construction, in service and dry-docking contracts.

 

While the position can require extensive travel, when not travelling the role is mainly office based (William Rankine Building, Rosyth) providing internal department support, and remote support to clients.

 

Role accountabilities:

 

  • Monitor incoming enquiries through the Warranty and AfterSales inboxes. Support the responsible Project, Warranty and AfterSales Engineers by investigating CI&E issues and providing trouble shooting advice to internal/external clients. Assist with non CI&E correspondence internally within the department and externally with clients.
  • Maintain Project specific warranty spread sheets and correspondence folders from claim received to closure.
  • As necessary identify and specify any replacement materials needed to resolve and rectify warranty and aftersales requirements
  • Liaise with the Procurement Department and navigate and operate the “Warranty” and AfterSales Central database throughout all the different stages of the replacement Ordering and Shipping process.
  • Prepare a portfolio of trouble shooting guides for regularly occurring problems and provide feedback to design and engineering.
  • When vessel attendance is required liaise with the client to coordinate.


This role is full time 37 hours per week. While the position can require extensive travel, when not travelling the role is mainly office based (William Rankine Building, Rosyth).

 

Essential experience of the Service Support Engineer

  • Engineering background essential, preferably marine.
  • Hands-on technical competence – Electrical and Control (PLC) Systems including Hazardous Area Equipment
  • Experience with servicing/calibrating HART protocol instrumentation.
  • Reasonable experience with Low and Medium Voltage switchboard equipment.
  • Clear and confident communicator
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously

 

Qualifications for the Service Support Engineer

  • Practical experience in marine environment as CI&E engineer (ideally in a commissioning environment) or equivalent

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
