At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Senior Buyer at Rosyth Dockyard, near Dunfermline, Fife.

The role

As a Senior Buyer, you'll play a key role in delivering strategic procurement and contract management solutions that support major facilities management and infrastructure activities across one of the UK's most important engineering and defence sites. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead complex procurement projects, influence commercial outcomes, and drive value across a diverse supply chain while supporting projects that contribute to national defence and critical infrastructure.

Working closely with project teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders, you'll help ensure contracts are effectively managed, risks are mitigated, and projects are delivered successfully. You'll also provide leadership and support to Buyers and an Assistant Buyer, helping develop capability across the team.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Managing complex procurement projects and sourcing activities to deliver value-for-money outcomes.
  • Developing and implementing procurement and sourcing strategies for facilities management and capital investment requirements.
  • Preparing tender documentation and overseeing requests for information, quotations and tenders.
  • Negotiating, reviewing and managing contracts while ensuring commercial compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Leading supplier engagement, performance reviews and post-tender activities to achieve quality, cost and delivery objectives.

This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week based at Rosyth Dockyard. Hybrid working patterns are available.

Essential experience of the Senior Buyer:

  • Experience managing contract delivery within facilities management, construction, engineering or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience developing procurement strategies and leading complex procurement projects.
  • Strong contract management and commercial negotiation experience.
  • Knowledge and practical application of facilities management procurement methods.
  • Experience supervising, coaching or leading procurement team members.

Qualifications for the Senior Buyer:

  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or a relevant procurement qualification is desirable.
  • Equivalent demonstrable procurement and commercial experience will also be considered.
  • Experience working with NEC4 contracts would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
