Marine Engineering & Systems – Type 31
 
The Production Manager role is based within our Marine Engineering & Systems

 

Marine Engineering & Systems (MES) business unit is expanding rapidly with complex, high-profile defence projects including Type 31 Frigate Design & Build Programme. Therefore, we are looking to grow our existing team, building on a well-established foundation of over 800 staff across the UK. 

 

The Type 31 Project will deliver 5 general purpose, global, adaptable and exportable frigates to the Royal Navy designed to undertake a range of operational tasks from maritime security, humanitarian aid and disaster relief and defence engagement to operation in a high threat environment. The Project is the pathfinder and cornerstone of the National Shipbuilding Strategy and will be delivered in an innovative manner at pace with all 5 ships to be in-service by Dec 2028.
 
The role
 
The difference our new Production Manager will make

 

As a Production Manager, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will report to the Ship Manager for the T31 Programme as it moves towards the Assembly phase in the new Venturer Building in Rosyth Dockyard. 

 

You will lead, manage and control a unit consisting of multiple teams such that resources are deployed and fully utilised to meet weekly, monthly and quarterly schedules and plans at the required time, quality and cost consistent with business requirements.
 
Day-to-day, you will lead, coordinate and control one or several teams such that staff are developed, utilised, and deployed effectively, employee performance & motivation is maximised to meet organisational standards and requirements. You will develop and implement plans, approaches, schedules, and improvement programmes to deliver ongoing monthly, quarterly, and annual KPI’s, sla’s and objectives for your zone.

 

You will oversee the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of operational methods, processes, and systems for new and existing products. Ensure the effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel in producing quality products to schedule at minimum cost. You will liaise with engineering, supply chain and other internal functional departments in releasing new products, materials, equipment, facilities, and process updates to ensure appropriate testing and introduction of improvements and changes while maintaining continuity and achievement of schedules. 

 

You will monitor operational performance and identify performance improvement initiates for the unit, work with internal and external resources to define and deliver operational performance improvement. In addition, ensure all system-based records are fully up to date and reports, plans and schedules are implemented in the production environment to meet all schedule requirements.
