The role
As a T31 Production Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of one of the UK’s most exciting naval programmes. The Type 31 frigate – also known as the Inspiration-class – is a cutting-edge, adaptable warship designed to support global maritime operations. Built for agility, innovation, and international collaboration, the T31 is a symbol of modern naval capability. 

Day-to-day, you’ll provide Production and Project Engineering support to the Civil Nuclear Programme Production teams through identification of work scope requirements / gaps, system validations, handovers, and system test requirements. You'll support and co-ordinate all requirements to achieve construction, assembly, testing and training in accordance with T31 programme/project requirements.

 

  • Support the delivery of civil nuclear programmes and milestones.
  • Liaison with key project stakeholders such as Production, Procurement, Engineering (Rosyth, BCNS & Client) and Planning teams.
  • Work effectively within a team environment to ensure project milestones are delivered to time cost and quality requirements.
  • Work ahead of Production to identify free to run work fronts and identify early the blockers for resolution ahead of production schedule requirements.
  • Highlight cause and effect of schedule non-compliance and assist in providing solutions to minimise the effect of schedule movement
  • Use of IFS for control & status reporting, working with all stake holders to ensure compliance and assist in solutions where gaps are identified.

 

This role is full time, 36 hours per week, and is offered on a 52-week fixed-term contract basis and provides hybrid working arrangements. 

 

Essential experience of the Production Engineer

  • Project Planning Expertise: Proven ability to plan complex, multi-disciplinary projects is essential.
  • Industry Experience: Background in production, engineering, and planning is advantageous; structural, fabrication, or electrical manufacturing experience is desirable, but not essential
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MSP, and familiar with Primavera.
  • Software Knowledge: Experience with IFS (Enterprise Resource Planning software) is required.
  • Work Environment: Demonstrated success in dynamic production or project-based environments.

 

Qualifications for the Production Engineer

  • APM qualification desirable but not essential
  • Formal Engineering qualifications

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
