As an Operations Planning Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role at the heart of one of the UK’s most exciting and strategically important shipbuilding programmes. This is an opportunity to influence how our teams plan, build and deliver complex engineering projects that directly support national security. You’ll shape and enhance planning performance across multiple teams, creating smooth operational flow and driving efficiencies that contribute to a safer world.
You’ll work closely with senior planners, project teams and production specialists, overseeing planning processes for the Type 31 Programme — one of the UK’s flagship naval initiatives. This role will grow your leadership capability, strengthen your operational planning expertise and place you at the centre of a dynamic, future‑focused engineering environment.
Day to day you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Leading and developing planning teams across live operational projects, ensuring accurate progress updates and effective performance management.
- Managing demand planning (12‑week lookahead) and operational planning (4‑week lookahead) in line with Type 31 strategies.
- Working with cross‑functional teams including production, demand planning, procurement and project controls.
- Using data analytics and reporting tools to track KPIs and deliver meaningful insights to senior stakeholders.
- Translating group planning policies into actionable strategies and best‑practice processes across the Rosyth site.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is a hybrid role with 3 days per week onsite at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Operations Planning Manager:
- Experience in a managerial role with direct reports.
- Broad experience using MPS and MRP systems.
- Strong background in inventory planning and management, with knowledge of end‑to‑end supply chain processes.
- Understanding of factory, production, manufacturing and operational planning environments.
- Experience in data extraction and analysis using digital tools.
Qualifications for the Operations Planning Manager:
- Degree in a business or data‑related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience using ERP systems.
