The role
As a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert in all Non-Destructive Testing activities across our Rosyth Dockyard site.
Day-to-day, you’ll support the Senior NDT Engineer in providing training, certification, and consultancy on all NDT activities across the site. Primarily you will work with Radiographic Testing (RT) however, will have the opportunity to work with any other inspection techniques that you are qualified within.
- You will interpret and evaluate results in terms of existing codes, standards, and specifications to ensure all client specifications and standards are being met.
- Assist in the examination and maintenance of certification of NDT professionals to ensure they are competent and qualified to perform their roles.
- Assist in the auditing and maintaining associated all NDT records and schedules for our Rosyth Dockyard site.
- Schedule and manage including auditing all NDT related sub-contractors completing work at our site.
- Work to develop engaging new programs of learning consistent with e-Learning and interactive based education for new Technicians, Technician re-certification and for general understanding of NDT techniques.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday and is based at our Rosyth Dockyard, Rosyth, Fife site.
Essential experience of the Non-Destructive Testing Engineer
- Previous experience of overseeing and cross-checking NDT activities on large scale projects.
- Demonstrable experience and capable of handling all related procedures, standards, specifications, training, examination, and certification for Radiographic Testing. Experience in Visual (VT), Penetrant (PT), Magnetic (MT), and Ultrasonic (UT) inspection techniques would be desirable but not essential.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, able to prioritise workloads with competing deadlines.
- Confident and competent in using computer-based systems such as the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel etc) and able to acquire, manipulate and disseminate information.
Qualifications for the Non-Destructive Testing
- A level 2 or above PCN in Radiographic Testing and capable and willing to train and upgrade to a PCN Level 3 and ASNT Level 3 if these qualifications are not already held.
- Desirable but not essential to hold a Level 2 or above PCN or ASNT qualifications in Visual (VT), Penetrant (PT), Magnetic (MT), or Ultrasonic (UT).
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
