The role
As a Head of Construction and Site Development, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will guide the long‑term development and transformation of Rosyth Royal Dockyard — a strategically significant site that is set for large‑scale growth and major infrastructure investment over the next two decades. This is an exciting opportunity to influence high‑value construction programmes that directly support national defence capability, the future of marine engineering, and the sustainability of one of Babcock’s key operating locations.
Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
- Lead the long‑term construction and infrastructure strategy for Rosyth, ensuring it aligns with Babcock’s growth ambitions and operational priorities.
- Drive delivery of large‑scale construction projects, ensuring compliance with RIBA stages, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice.
- Oversee site investment programmes, infrastructure upgrades, and building and facilities projects.
- Build effective partnerships with senior leaders, project sponsors, regulators, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Communicate complex technical information clearly, confidently, and with influence.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Head of Construction and Site Development
- Significant experience in construction, infrastructure, or facilities leadership roles.
- A strong track record of delivering large‑scale, high‑value construction projects.
- Deep knowledge of Scottish building regulations and construction standards.
- Experience interacting with regulatory bodies such as ONR and SEPA.
- Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams delivering construction and facilities programmes.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
