The role
As a Front Line Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll lead and develop a team of skilled technicians and operatives delivering critical engineering and manufacturing work that supports the UK's defence capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of team performance, safety, quality, and delivery within a fast-paced marine engineering environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Leading a team of technicians and operatives, providing guidance, coaching, and day-to-day support.
- Planning and allocating labour and resources to achieve programme, production, and delivery targets.
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with health, safety, quality, and operational requirements.
- Supporting team development through training identification, performance management, and skills growth.
- Monitoring and communicating progress against objectives, ensuring teams have the tools, documentation, and direction needed to succeed.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth. Shift patterns for this role are a two-week rotating shift pattern, alternating between day shift and night shift, working four days per week.
Essential experience of the Front Line Manager
- Experience leading, supervising, or managing teams within a production, engineering, manufacturing, marine, or operational environment.
- Strong ability to motivate, coach, and develop people while building high-performing teams.
- Good understanding of health, safety, and quality requirements within a production environment.
- Experience planning resources and allocating labour to meet programme or production schedules.
- Ability to interpret and apply method statements, risk assessments, and work instructions.
Qualifications for the Front Line Manager
- Demonstrable leadership experience gained within an engineering, manufacturing, production, or operational environment.
- Relevant supervisory, leadership, management, engineering, fabrication, or welding-related qualifications is desirable
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
