The role
As a Fabricator / Shipwright, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Day to day, you’ll carry-out planned installations, maintenance and removals of temporary and fixed structures and fittings to support Laid up Submarines, Nuclear Facilities, Submarine Docking Periods, and the Submarine Dismantling Programme.
Responsibilities of the Fabricator / Shipwright:
- Installation of equipment to support the dismantling program.
- Removal of pipe systems in the submarine
- Removal of mechanical equipment in the submarine
- Assist in the management of materials to / from Submarine and Dockside boundaries.
- Assist in the maintenance of the laid-up submarine program.
- Assist in the maintenance of the nuclear facilities.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week; hours are Monday to Thursday, 07:30-17:15 and based on site at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Fabricator / Shipwright:
- Recent and relevant experience working in a similar service provider environment.
- Agreement to work in areas which will expose individual to ionising radiation (radiation worker)
Qualifications for the Fabricator / Shipwright:
- ONC in Fabrication & Welding, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- A recognised Fabrication (or equivalent) apprenticeship
- Willing to develop self through training to support programme requirements
Please note that this position is subject to national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this will include obtaining SC level of security clearance).
