The role

As a Commissioning Engineer, you’ll ensure that critical ship systems and equipment are expertly inspected, tested, and validated—helping to deliver world‑class maritime platforms that meet performance, safety, and quality standards. Your work will make a direct contribution to national security while accelerating your own technical growth and professional development.

 

This is an exciting opportunity where your decisions, insight, and problem‑solving will influence major design-and-build programmes, including export variants, refits, and new commercial applications.

 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Inspect, test and evaluate equipment to support safe and timely commissioning across a wide range of applications.
  • Monitor and record commissioning progress, analyse test results, and witness final system acceptance.
  • Ensure all documentation meets configuration control and Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Investigate and diagnose issues, gathering information from multiple sources to understand defects and recommend solutions.
  • Support safe commissioning of plant, equipment, and installations in line with project and programme requirements.

 

 

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.

 

 

Essential experience of the Commissioning Engineer:

  • Experience creating and maintaining test documentation and analysing test results.
  • Experience writing safety documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, and procedures.
  • Ability to manage hazards in line with ALARP and safe working standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and work safely within technical environments.

 

 

Qualifications for the Commissioning Engineer:

  • HNC/HND in a Mechanical Engineering discipline with relevant industry experience.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
