The role

As a Commercial Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll play a key role in supporting a diverse portfolio of high-value UK and international opportunities across advanced manufacturing, civil nuclear, and international shipbuilding. Joining the Global Shipbuilding and Advanced Engineering Commercial Team at an exciting time of growth, you'll provide commercial leadership from early engagement and bid development through to contract negotiation and handover.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

 

  • Developing commercial strategies for new UK and international business opportunities.
  • Supporting bids and tenders from pre-sales engagement through to submission, negotiation, and contract award.
  • Reviewing and negotiating contracts, agreements, and commercial terms to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating commercial and contractual risks across a varied portfolio.
  • Building strong working relationships with customers, partners, suppliers, and stakeholders across the business.

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week Monday to Friday and provides hybrid working arrangements.

 

Essential experience of the Commercial Manager

  • Demonstrable commercial or contract management experience within a complex engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure, defence, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of commercial principles, contractual risk management, and different forms of commercial agreements.
  • Experience supporting bids, tenders, contract negotiations, or business growth activities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple functions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver against demanding customer and governance deadlines.

 

Qualifications for the Commercial Manager

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
