The role
As a Buyer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of a dynamic, diverse, and inclusive team, providing specialist knowledge across innovative products, technologies, and solutions. You’ll play a vital role in supporting both internal and external customers, ensuring efficiency and excellence in purchasing processes.
Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for executing the Procurement and Supply Management operating model, aligned to group strategies, supporting the Site Facilities Management (FM) team. Additionally, you will:
- Develop supply strategies that meet business requirements.
- Optimise the supply base, segment suppliers, and tier the supply chain appropriately.
- Assess and manage supply chain risks, implementing mitigation plans where needed.
- Lead and/or support activities within the Babcock six-step sourcing methodology, including defining needs, spend/price analysis, market research, and sourcing strategies.
- Negotiate with suppliers to ensure cost-effective supply solutions.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Buyer
- Strong expertise in procuring goods and services—particularly services.
- Preferably, experience working within or supporting a Facilities Management (FM) environment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as IFS, SAP, or similar, alongside exposure to the latest e-procurement system capabilities.
- Proven experience in service-based contracts, including implementation and management.
- A strong background in procurement and supply chain activities related to Facilities Management (FM), covering both Hard and Soft FM services.
Qualifications for the Buyer
- Ideally, a degree-level qualification or equivalent through relevant work experience.
- MCIPS qualification or actively working towards MCIPS or an equivalent professional certification (desirable).

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
