Our 4-year AI and Data Science Graduate Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to contribute to some of the UK’s most important defence programmes, all while working towards a BSc (Hons) degree and building a rewarding career in Data Analytics.
About the programme
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience supporting major programmes, including the Royal Navy’s Type 31 frigates and the UK Submarine Dismantling Programme. You’ll contribute to the delivery, maintenance, and transformation of some of the UK’s most advanced naval platforms while developing an understanding of how data and analytics support decision-making across complex, large-scale programmes.
Your work will help optimise operations, reduce risk, and enhance the performance of critical assets. You’ll explore the full data lifecycle, from sourcing and cleansing datasets to identifying trends and presenting insights through clear, compelling visualisations. This could involve building Power BI reports, carrying out statistical analysis, or creating dashboards that help teams monitor performance, make informed decisions, and identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
You’ll gain valuable experience with our enterprise systems and contribute to projects that enhance how data is captured, managed, and used across the business. Depending on your placement, you may also support the development of customer-facing applications and data solutions using Palantir Foundry, enabling smarter, faster decision-making.
Working alongside experienced colleagues and supported by dedicated mentors, you’ll quickly build your confidence and capability. You’ll learn how to communicate insights effectively, challenge assumptions with evidence, and bring fresh perspectives to complex problems. From driving innovation to influencing decision-making, you’ll play a meaningful role in shaping the future of our programmes and the way we work.

From there, your development doesn’t stop. Through the Babcock Role Framework, you’ll have a clear view of how your career can progress, with mapped-out pathways, development opportunities and the tools you need to get wherever you want to go.
