About the role

 

Babcock is seeking a talented and experienced Procurement Officer to join a growing team and play a pivotal role in managing Defence strategic upstream activity. If you are a seasoned professional with a passion for building supplier relationships and driving best practices, we want to hear from you.

As a Procurement Officer at Babcock, you will be responsible for managing the Defence strategic upstream activity. Your role will involve facilitating the development of supplier relationships through best practices aligned with Babcock's business objectives.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire spectrum of procurement activities. This includes conducting comprehensive contract negotiations with both existing and potential suppliers and driving the RFQ/RFI/RFT process. You will play a crucial role in developing, supporting, and monitoring key initiatives aimed at achieving maximum savings and benefits for the organization. Regular assessments and reviews of key suppliers will be conducted to ensure optimal performance. Building and nurturing strong relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders are integral aspects of this position.

 

 

You will bring
 

  • Proven commercial acumen and negotiator.
  • Thorough understanding of category management, supply chain mechanisms, and risk assessment.
  • Understanding of contract law, ideally ASDEFCON.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Analytical skills, with decision-making based on detailed analysis and interpretation of complex data.
  • Pro-active, resourceful, and able to prioritize competing demands.
  • Clear track record of compliance to high ethical standards and codes of conduct.
  • Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain).

Desirable:

  • Technical, procurement, or commercial knowledge of assets, goods, and services applicable to maintenance, repairs, or overhauls of equipment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in procurement/supply chain, technical, financial, or commercial degree.
