About the role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a Senior Commercial Manger to lead the commercial aspects of major strategic bids and contractual negotiations across our Emergency Services and Training (ES&T) Business Unit. As a Senior Commercial Manger you’ll be primarily tasked with developing market leading innovative commercial mechanisms, adding competitive advantage to bids to secure long term profitable contracts.


Using your vast experience of negotiating and/or contract managing major service delivery contracts, you’ll contribute to the successful growth of the business through strong commercial leadership of strategic bids and work with all Lines of Business to identify, prioritise and plan for future bidding activity, identifying and exploiting opportunities to increase revenue, profit or cash performance. You’ll be responsible for drafting and negotiating variations to and change controls under contract, driving the risk management process across all existing contracts (including managing change) and assess risks associated with contracting under differing frameworks and determine the most effective solutions. 

 

You’ll also drive the introduction of commercial training for contract managers across ES&T and commercial best practice.


What do I need to do the role?
You’ll be Educated to degree level (Business/Contract Law) and have relevant industry experience.


We would also like you to have some or all of the following:

  • Significant experience in a Senior Commercial role
  • Commercially astute
  • Strong financial analytical experience
  • People management skills
  • Experience of negotiating and/or contract managing major service delivery contracts (NEC 3/Managed Service Contract experience is preferable).
  • Ability to draft Commercial Terms and Conditions.
  • Tendering experience working within the commercial dialogue framework
  • Comprehensive understanding of the training or appropriate outsourcing markets

 

Lastly, you’ll need strong interpersonal and communication skills together with effective influencing skills coupled witht the ability to use innovative thinking and networking (internally and externally) to encourage new opportunities or solutions.

 

What else do I need to know?

  • The role is primarily based at Lakeside, Portsmouth, however travel travel to other UK sites will be required
