At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as an Inter Company Accountant at any of our main UK locations, including Portsmouth, Devonport, Bristol and Leicester.

The role

As an Inter Company Accountant, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and control of financial information across Babcock Group businesses. Working at the heart of our Finance function, you'll support strong financial governance through the reconciliation, settlement and management of intercompany balances, helping to reduce risk and improve financial performance across a complex international organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing transformation of our Finance function while working alongside teams across the business. Your expertise will help drive standardisation, improve financial processes and support informed business decision-making. In return, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of stakeholders, develop your technical accounting capability and build a rewarding career within a business that supports critical defence, aerospace and engineering programmes.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Support the implementation and rollout of centralised intercompany accounting processes across the Group.
  • Manage the allocation and recharge of shared corporate supplier costs across multiple Group entities.
  • Review and validating intercompany recharge requests to ensure compliance with Group policies and controls.
  • Prepare and processing accurate and timely intercompany transactions and recharges.
  • Manage recurring intercompany accruals and supporting month-end financial reporting activities.

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.

Essential experience of the Inter Company Accountant

  • Strong knowledge of intercompany accounting principles, controls and processes.
  • Understanding of general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end accounting activities.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to financial accuracy and control.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and financial problem-solving skills.

Qualifications for the Inter Company Accountant

  • AAT qualified, part-qualified accountant, fully qualified accountant, or equivalent experience gained within a finance function.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
