Purpose of role

 

•    The delivery of Academic course modules as detailed by DTM to DCTT EMTC trainees/students in line the DCTT EMTC training timetable as scheduled by Training Planning. 
•    Assist with the technical administration of training and equipment in line with the DCTT EMTC and as directed by the Department Training Manager.

 

Main tasks

 

•    To deliver academic technical and laboratory assignment training modules, including mathematics to trainees/students in line with the DCTT EMTC Course Documentation and as directed by the DTM, including both distributed training and distance learning.
•    To advise Training Design where training material requires updating or is inadequate in some way and to provide SME input to training design as required.
•    Maintain personal CPD portfolio in respect of new technologies and equipment, and new training delivery methodologies. 
•    Ensure that lesson plans and training sessions are developed in accordance with the approved syllabi.  Review course content to ensure it is current and evolves to support equipment advances and technologies using most appropriate training aids.  Where this is not the case provide detailed input to Course Design.
•    Assessment of trainees to include: 
    Creation of written/ digital examination and progress test papers. 
    Creation of practical assessment/examination scenario and continuous assessments.  
    Marking of examination papers, setting and marking of course and homework, invigilation of       examination and assessments.  
•    Provide coaching and mentoring of students/trainees to ensure maximum benefit from the courses are achieved and high passed rates are met.
•    Ensuring student/trainee development through monitoring, feedback appraisal, discipline and training interventions, ensuring all supporting documentation is maintained and that any special student developmental needs or training delays are flagged to the DTM.  Delivery of remedial training and revision as necessary.  
•    Student administration including course reports and student training records. Attending Course Debriefs as required by the DTM.
•    Responsibility within the training areas for cleanliness, security, HSW, COSHH and environmental and engineering hygiene and ensuring that all students are fully aware of these requirements.
•    To ensure that DCTT EMTC Standing Orders, and Babcock Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, are understood and implemented in the course of carrying out any work tasks.
•    Participation in presentations to agencies and visitors.
•    Undertake any other duties over and above those listed, within reason, as directed by your line manager.

 

What do I need to do the role? 


Qualifications:


•    Minimum qualification at level 6 on the National Framework in an engineering discipline 
•    Instructional experience of technical subjects in a military environment.
•    CET level 4 or equivalent (or be willing to complete)
•    Demonstrable proficiency in using IT (hardware/software) within the workplace.

 

Experience:


•    Consolidated experience, or directly employed in electrical and electronic engineering principles.
•    Previous knowledge in the application of Marine electrical and electronic theoretical and practical instruction to level 2 and 3 Electrical Engineering courses with an awareness of Electrical Theory, Electrical Safety, Power & Distribution, High Voltage, Electrical Test Equipment, Electrical Maintenance, Damage Control and Waste Processing.
•    Previous instructional experience in a military or civilian electrical and electronic environment.
•    Experience in the development of electrical and electronic engineering-based training courses


You must hold or have ability to obtain SC security clearance
