The Senior EC&I Engineer role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role

The difference our new Senior EC&I Engineer will make

 

As a Senior EC&I Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary.  

 

Day to day, you shall be responsible for leading C&I design aspects of design projects following the design lifecycle. This includes developing and managing requirements, producing engineering management plans, authoring specifications, delivering design documentation (such as drawings, design reports, operations and maintenance manuals etc.), producing commissioning documents and providing technical support to implementation phases of the projects. 

 

The design consultancy activities generally focus on the provision of new, or modification to; C&I designs, asset, equipment and facilities as well as injection of new capabilities and undertaking life extensions activities. This entails the application of design lifecycle processes, undertaking a variety of defined activities and deliverables, and following the appropriate levels of technical governance.

Essential experience

 

•    Display sound understanding of relevant industry legislation for electrical systems.
•    Demonstrate experience of designing C&I systems. 
•    Positively interact with customers and stakeholders to capture project scopes and requirements to deliver successful projects.
•    Operate as a team player and leader with the capability to mentor, coach and develop individuals to be C&I software engineers.
•    It is essential for the candidate to hold a degree in an appropriate electrical engineering discipline or significant experience with HNC.
