The SHE Systems Coordinator role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role


The difference our new SHE Systems Coordinator will make
As a SHE Systems Coordinator, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary; by leading the transformation of the SHE Business Management Systems (BMS). You will have the opportunity to shape the future of how Devonport Royal Dockyard manages it’s SHE risks.


Day to day, you’ll have to consolidate or produce policies, work instructions, guidance documents and other SHE BMS documentation; whilst ensuring all systems are legally and contractually compliant and fit for purpose. Some of this documentation will require technical SHE input.

Essential experience


•    Ideally, an experienced SHE Professional / Practitioner; specifically with experience of ISO14001 and ISO45001 management systems.
•    An Internal Auditor qualification or training in SHE Management system ISO14001 and 45001. (Extensive experience in working with these systems may be considered in lieu of formal training.)
•    Your experience could be from a range of disciplines; but exposure to a highly regulated industry, is ideal. (e.g. Rail, Oil & Gas, Nuclear etc.)
•    You must have excellent communication and organisational skills.
•    You must be comfortable communicating and presenting through a range of mediums with both internal and external parties.
