Job Title: Project Manager - Sea Water Systems
Location: Devonport, Plymouth


About the Role
Working as part of our Defence Systems Technology (DST) business we’re looking for a  to join us at at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. DST forms a critical part of Babcock’s Marine organisation. Working across a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, our 1,500 strong team operate from a number of sites across the UK and internationally ensuring our global customer portfolio is always supported.

As a Project Manager - Sea Water Systems you'll provide Project management leadership for all engineering support activities that contribute to the successful delivery of the contract. Ensuring that all internal and external targets for delivery and cost are fully met achieving customer satisfaction and customer key performance indicators (KPIs). Identifying and undertaking business development and improvement activities.


You'll have overall responsibility for delivery of the project to meet contractual requirements, including delivery of the service on time, to cost and to the required quality standards; day to day management of the project in conjunction with the relevant professional leads, to include allocation and control of project resources to meet service targets.

You will collaborate closely with the customer to understand their aspirations of service requirements and how they relate to contractual requirements and identify and manage chances for contract growth within current contract and any new contract opportunities utilising the TAF process or contract change proposal.


Project Start-up Phase:

You will establish a good understanding of the contract requirements including services and products and required internal services from supporting functions, supporting the business development and bid teams in the preparation of bid packs and proposals. You will establish project management activities including a full understanding of the contract(s) responsible for and prepare project plans and organise contract kick off meetings.


Project execution phase:
You will manage the creation of production programmes & estimates (including facilities) with Engineering / Planning & Production Managers where required, establish engineering activities (staff requirements, facilities, tools, processes) including understanding of requirements of the contract and establish good communications with customer and key suppliers; monitor, manage, control and update profit and cash performances with project accountants; capture variations and recommend compensation. You will also ensure that health and safety, quality and the environment are fully considered in all aspects of activities.


What do I need to do the role?
You'll have an engineering or Project management qualification at degree or above. Knowledge of DRDL Company systems and processes and knowledge of customer operations and objectives would be an advantage. You will also need sound commercial knowledge & experience and good communication and motivation skills.


We would also like you to have experience of Proposal Development, Strategic Relationship Management, Contractual Awareness, Project Management, Risk Management, Effective Writing, Effective Presentation, Effective Presentation, Project/Task Management and Risk Management, Knowledge / understanding of Commercial / MoD contractual terms and conditions.


Finally, we would like you to have excellent interpersonal, communication skills, demonstrable project management experience. Able to motivate and organise staff into an effective and productive team..

The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, Security Clearance
