Overall Department Direction
An opportunity has arisen for a Project Controls Manager working with the Programme Controls Manager in the Warships business unit based in Devonport – part of the Support Division of Babcock International Group.

 

As the Project Controls Manager, the successful candidate will manage the project control resources required to deliver and support the programme.

The Project Controls Manager is to ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables to meet contractual requirements and emergent requests in support of the project teams.

Additionally they will develop, produce and continually improve the Project Controls Management Plans and processes that demonstrate the effectiveness of the Warships Project Controls function.

 

The successful candidate will enjoy working with a developing PMO team and engage both internally with business and programme leaders as well as important stakeholders of our customer community.

 

Main Purpose of Role
The position will manage and ensure that project controls processes are consistently applied across the programme.

The post holder will ensure Babcock sector governance will flow down in to Babcock business processes and communicated to all stakeholders.

Support and advise on the definition of Project Controls and Earned Value Management policies, procedures and the standards required to deliver projects.

Lead on aspects of Warships transformation projects to enable delivery of our financial savings commitment.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences
The successful candidate would preferably possess knowledge and experience within the following areas:

 

Essential:
•    Demonstrable financial awareness
•    Knowledge and experience of working in partnering and collaborative working environments 

 

Desirable:
•    Significant experience in Project Controls including the use of EVM, SRA & CRA.
•    Project, Change, Finance and Risk Management
•    Knowledge and experience of Naval support: an understanding of Upkeep and Fleet Time Support Period planning and delivery processes 
•    Working in partnering and collaborative working environments with customers and other companies
•    Controlling classified and sensitive information
•    Change Management 

 

Together with the following skills & competencies:
•    Good commercial awareness
•    Good Financial awareness
•    Excellent communication skills
•    Competent Microsoft Office skills 

 

Qualifications
Finance, Engineering or Business Qualification preferred
APM Level D Project Management or equivalent experience.


What else do I need to know?
•    The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this post.
•    Passport, Licences and Qualifications must be shown at interview stage.
