The Platform Manager role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role

 

The difference our new Platform Manager will make

 

As a Platform Manager you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We are looking for a dynamic, committed and ambitious Marine Professional who is experienced in the delivery of national and international Maritime Platform Support.  

 

Day to day, you’ll utilise your experience and knowledge of In Service Support to lead, advise and develop a range of support solutions for an expanding and diverse customer base.

This role provides hybrid working arrangements with generally 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home – travel to other locations will occasionally be required.

 

Essential experience

 

•    Project Management experience
•    Experience and working knowledge of the defence industry and in particular, maritime support with a through life perspective on delivery of support
•    Knowledge and understanding of platform systems and equipment support and operation, in order to understand, propose and assess maintenance and through life support requirements and options, to include Capability Insertion and obsolescence management planning
•    An understanding of the Global Support Environment and strategic relevance of delivery/support locations
•    Commercial and financial awareness in a Maritime support context
