About the role

 

Here at Babcock International we’re looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
 
As the Continous Improvement Manager you will use your significant knowledge and experience in Continuous Improvement in the management of the operational governance of the whole Nuclear Site to ensure industry ‘best practice’, and a consistent approach to work practices. You’ll develop, introduce and measure Performance Improvement programmes as well as monitor and ensure compliance with the Licenced Site Conditions and associated controls.

What do I need to do the role?


You'll be educated to NVQ Level 4 as minimum in a relevant discipline and hold recognised professional status or significant experience in a relevant discipline.

 

We would also like you to have some or all of the following experience and competences:


• Experience and/or understanding of Continuous Improvement geared towards operational excellence and long term sustainability.
• Understanding of basis nuclear principles
• Competent in supporting strategic objectives by interpreting and influencing both the external and internal environments and by creating positive relationships with stakeholders through the appropriate management of their expectations and agreed objectives.
• Experience in planning, creating and authoring of information reports and presenting that information in an appropriate format including the formal communication to stakeholders.
• Experience in improving performance through obtaining commitment and defining the improvement objectives, applying the appropriate change methodologies, overcoming resistance to the change and putting in place controls to sustain new levels of performance.

 

Lastly you'll be able to communicate with senior stake holders at all levels and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.


What else do I need to know?


The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to obtain, Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this post.
