About the Role


Here at Babcock International we’re looking for several Estimators with a fabrication background to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.


As an Estimator you’ll undertake estimating activities in support of fabrication and machining tasks to meet specified customer drawing and work specification requirements.


Using your understanding and knowledge of a wide range of constructive, fabrication, welding and machining processes you’ll be responsible for the creation of fabrication estimates (to include labour, materials and sub-contracts),  job-plans and parts-lists. You'll carry out a detailed planning of assigned work scope for projects/contracts to enable relevant control documentation to be produced for effective implementation by the production group. You'll also be responsible for preparing reports and summarising information

 


 

What do I need to do the role?


You'll be educated to ONC level in an engineering discipline or equivalent technical/production qualification, together with experience in fabrication, welding or manufacturing.


We would also like you to have the ability to interpret technical drawings

 

What else do I need to know?


The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, national Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this post.
