Facilities Operations and Maintenance Manager

Starting Salary £35,460

About the role             

The Facility operations and maintenance team operate the 9 Dock facilities to support all key Stakeholders. Currently the facility is being utilised to support HMS Vanguards Refit and therefore provides critical infrastructure to enable this project to be conducted. As the Facility Operation and Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the safe provision of equipment and services within the 9 Dock facility utilising a number of resources and assets.

To ensure the delivery of the Facility Structures, Systems and Components in a timely and cost effective manner to support Babcock business requirements compliant with the appropriate Safety Case and Statutory Regulations.

You will carry out the role of Duly Authorised Person when trained and act as Appointed Person (Cranes) for lifting activities within the areas under the control of the 9 Dock NOMM

To provide governance guidance and advice of the dockside activities in support of the 9 Dock Dockside Manager (DM), and, where necessary, provide advice to ensure that all 9 Dock Facility Users are compliant with the requirements of the safety cases.

What do I need to do the role?

You’ll need to have a Degree/HND in Engineering Discipline (preferably Civils) and have knowledge or experience with Nuclear Plant Foundation and Nuclear Fundamental Course.

You will also need to have knowledge, experience or skills in the following areas:

  • Submarine Quality Assurance Course
  • Radiation Worker
  • DAP Course
  • Formal DAP Interview
  • Health and Safety Management of Subcontractors
  • Experience of Refit Support requirements
  • Experience of 9 Dock Plant operations and maintenance requirements


Lastly, you’ll need to have experience as Crane Appointed Person and Crane Operations and Lifting experience.
