Configuration Manager



Main Purpose of Role

The Configuration Manager will be responsible to the Through Life Support Manager for maintaining and developing configuration control of various Gunnery system contracts, this will include:



  • Administer Asset Tracking and Configuration Control aspects of various software tools, this will include ensuring as fitted/as maintained configuration is regularly validated, adjustments to equipment configuration of software tools as required and introduction of new equipment.
  • Provide Configuration reports (internal and external) as required
  • Manage the Engineering Change Proposal Process
  • Attend and lead Babcock input into Configuration Control Board and Modification Control Committee for a range of equipment contracts.
  • Administer Technical Data Packages
  • Provide configuration management advice at design reviews as required
  • Assist with the introduction of new technologies that will enhance asset and configuration management efficiency and capability.
  • To act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for your role, supporting of new bid and business growth opportunities. Attending business development meetings, and creating technical responses as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences

This role requires the following competences, experience and qualifications:




  • Industry configuration management best practice.
  • Have a strong understanding of various modification marking methodologies.
  • Ability to work in a complex, multi-discipline team.
  • Strong written communication skills; the delivery of well structured, unambiguous technical documentation and reports.
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Relevant engineering background 



  • Experience of Gunnery/Fire Control systems and their associated configuration approaches
  • Working knowledge of MoD tools and applications 
  • Working Knowledge of MoD practices
