CapEx Business Support Manager
SF28582
Location: Devonport, Plymouth
Starting Salary: £42,180

About the Role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking for CapEx Business Support Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

As the CapEx Business Support Manager you’ll take responsibility for the Production and maintenance of the short term (i.e. ~12 months) forward investment programme. You’ll develop compelling business cases for CapEx funding ensuring safety and environmental benefits are fully considered. You’ll contribute to Technical Reviews, as well as undertaking Commercial/Capital Investment continuous improvement reviews, where applicable. You’ll also engage with the Design Authority / Technical Authority (DA/TA) for the generation of Statement of Requirements (SORs) and Scope of Works (SOWs) to enable tendering activities to be kicked off, and engage with Procurement to drive and control the tendering process in order to obtain costs for funding applications.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll be educated to degree level or equivalent in an Engineering or Business discipline and have significant relevant experience gained in a previous role.

We would also like you to be able to demonstrate all or some or all of the following:

  • Ability to conceptualise and assess proposed projects for planning and budgeting, based on often very limited information.
  • Awareness of environmental principles and implications.
  • Self-motivation, empowerment and the ability to drive tasks through to completion.
  • Ability to provide objective solutions to delivery strategy and finance planning problems.
  • A ‘lateral thinker’ with a flexible attitude and a willingness to drive requirements, often outside the sphere of your expertise.

Lastly, it goes without saying that this position requires someone with strong interpersonal skills, effective and persuasive communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, national Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this post.
