We have a new opportunity for a Calibration Team Leader to join our team at Babcock, to provide day to day management of a small team of Calibration specialists, and to satisfy the requirements of BS EN ISO 17025 and subsequent accreditation as accessed by UKAS, as the facilities RF & μWave signatory. Under the Future Maritime Support Programme at Devonport, you will be required to carry out and validate the calibration of Electrical inspection and measurement equipment. 

Who are we looking for?
As the Calibration Team Leader, we are looking for you to be able to satisfy the requirements of BS EN ISO 17025 and subsequent accreditation as assessed by UKAS as RF & μWave signatory. You will demonstrable experience working with a broad range of electronic test equipment, including but not limited to, RF & µwave test and reference measurement equipment. In addition, you will have a good working knowledge of Fluke METTEAM or a similar software utility, to control test instrumentation and collect data. We are looking for you to have an eye for detail with experience in high accuracy measurement practices working within a quality driven environment. 

What will you be doing?
In your role as Calibration Team Leader, you will demonstrate efficient and effective management of measurement equipment and measuring processes, across the diverse range of company activities. You will underpin the overall quality of company output, and significantly contributing to overall product safety. 

Responsibilities will also include:
•    Supporting and demonstrating the Electrical Calibration Centre’s compliance to BS EN ISO 17025, as accredited via UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) and general compliance with BS EN 10012
•    Providing technical leadership, training and development to calibration staff to ensure compliance with the appropriate methods, procedures and specifications, meeting the required timescales and producing test, calibration and associated records of the work performed
•    Developing and maintaining the facility calibration capability and associated measurement uncertainty budgets
•    Undertaking Analysis of Calibration Data to minimise audit non-compliance and validate operation within the Company Regulator requirements e.g., UKAS uncertainty budgets and to undertake corrective actions as appropriate
•    Managing the Calibration and control throughput of a broad range of General-Purpose Test and Measurement Equipment to include items ranging from 3 phase Switch Board instrumentation including EHT measurement to 50kV, through to specialist RF & microwave equipment calibration arising from both the Dockyard & Fleet Support work streams
•    Issuing and authorising Calibration Certificates and Reports for work undertaken
•    Representing the facility at appropriate management meetings, and company at National and Ministry of Defence forums

The experience you’ll bring 
•    Level 5 (level 4 will be considered) qualification or recognised professional status, and significant experience in Calibration with respect to broad range of Rf equipment
•    Be able to satisfy the requirements of BS EN ISO 17025 and subsequent accreditation as assessed by UKAS as RF & μWave signatory.
•    A good working knowledge of Fluke METTEAM or a similar software utility, to control test instrumentation and collect data via the IEEE488 interface bus, is desirable although training can be provided.

You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
