About the role             

We are currently seeking experienced candidates for a Supply Chain Buyer role who are looking for an exciting opportunity within the Devonport Materials Delivery Team.  The role will support the various business units in the delivery of timely and value for money services

The opportunity is within the Marine and Technology Division who are the UK's leading marine support business and deliver a wide range of through-life engineering services to commercial and defence markets in the UK and overseas.

The Marine and Technology Division has over 9,000 highly skilled people contributing extensive knowledge and experience, our collaborative approach to working with customers and suppliers aims to fully meet and exceed our customers’ needs and expectations. Working side by side with our customers on concept design, project management, testing, assembly, maintenance and asset management, through to decommissioning, we aim to ensure their ultimate objectives and commitments are always achieved

As the Buyer you will commercially represent the company and provide support to the Babcock Marine and Technology Supply Chain in the provision of Services and/or Goods at the best total acquisition cost, consistent with the specified technical, quality assurance and delivery requirements which are critical to the success of this business

What do I need to do the role?

You’ll need to be MCIPS or degree qualified, however part qualification acceptable and Lean Six Sigma certification desirable

 

You will also need to have experience in the following areas:

  • Experience in use of MPS and MRP systems
  • Understanding of manufacturing in highly pressurised environments
  • Experience in a procurement and supply chain environment
  • Positive “can do” attitude
  • Analytical thinking
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Good communication, interpersonal and persuasion skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft office applications
     

 

Lastly, you’ll need to be able to work under own initiative and complete tasks on time within dynamic CI environments.  You will be an innovative team player, detail orientated and with the capacity to see the bigger picture.
