About the Role
Here at Babcock International we’re looking for two Accountants to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

Our Finance Departments support the Business Unit Management teams in the achievement of strategy and financial objectives, through best practise financial reporting and control. As an Accountant, you'll provide financial information and analysis relating to Naval Base Facility areas in order to maintain financial control. More specifically, this includes:

  • Production of Cost Centre and Project, including Capital Expenditure reports and contract schedules. This will involve monitoring actual data vs target and price and reporting variances for managers to take appropriate action.
  • Monthly reviews with Managers to ensure accurate, up to date monthly actual costs and year end forecasts are declared.


What do I need to do the role?
You'll be educated to Degree level in a relevant discipline and hold an AAT or similar financially based professional qualification. You’ll also need experience in Management Accounting techniques.


We would also like you to have the following:

  • Excellent working knowledge of EXCEL
  • Good understanding of Financial Systems
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication skills

What else do I need to know?
Successful candidates will hold, or be eligible to acquire, Security Clearance at the appropriate level for these posts.
