The role
As a Senior Air Traffic Control Assistant, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary where you’ll provide assistance to Air Traffic Control staff as required to meet the needs of the customer and the contract.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll supervise and lead the Air Traffic Control team at RAF Wittering.

 

  • Ensure correct crash categories are maintained and assist ATCO with data collection and inspections.
  • Assist in maintaining the integrity of the runway and surrounding surfaces to ensure safe operations.
  • Operate all communication systems, ensuring timely and accurate recording and onward messaging to military, civilian, and Babcock partners.
  • Record and compile Air Traffic Control statistics using ‘STARS’ and general computer systems. Ensure all statistical data, returns, and reports are accurate and presented within the given time scales
  • Issue airfield driving permits and liaise with RAF Wittering-based units and other units during emergencies. Record details 

 

This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Wittering

 

Essential experience of the Senior Air Traffic Control Assistant 

  • Previous experience in mentoring and training.
  • Previous experience in acquiring and processing meteorological information, ensuring data is updated accurately and provided within specified time limits.
  • Previous experience in carrying out duties in flight planning

 

Qualifications for the Senior Air Traffic Control Assistant 

  • ATCA experience.
  • IT literate – MS Word, Excel. 
  • Full driving licence.
  • Meteorological Observer – desirable

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.
