About the Role

Babcock is seeking a skilled and dedicated HF Node Maintenance Technician to support the operation and enhancement of Australia’s Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS) and its upgraded counterpart, the Enhanced DHFCS (EDHFCS). In this role site based in Riverina- NSW, you’ll be responsible for delivering day-to-day maintenance support services across mission-critical systems and facilities. You’ll ensure transmitters, receivers, and control equipment meet operational standards, conduct fault investigations, and maintain accurate records using our maintenance management systems. Your work will contribute directly to the communications capability of the Australian Defence Force, and you’ll play a key part in maintaining high security and safety standards across all operations. You’ll also be expected to produce technical documentation, comply with standard operating procedures, and occasionally travel interstate to support system service delivery. This is a hands-on, technically challenging role that offers the opportunity to grow your expertise while contributing to national defence infrastructure.

 

About You

 

You’re a technically proficient professional with around five years’ experience in a related maintenance or engineering role. You’re confident working both independently and collaboratively, with strong communication skills and a sharp eye for detail. You’re comfortable solving complex technical issues using approved procedures and have a solid understanding of preventative and corrective maintenance practices. Ideally, you’ve worked in the defence sector or a similarly regulated technical environment, and you hold a vocational qualification or certificate in a relevant discipline. You’re driven by outcomes, curious about how things work, and courageous in the face of technical challenges. You take pride in your work, value collaboration, and understand the importance of safety, security, and documentation in high-stakes environments.

To be successful in this role, you will bring;

  • Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Commonwealth Defence Security Clearance as defined by AGSVA guidelines
  • A tertiary trade qualification in related discipline
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
