The role
As a Driver – Handler, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Reporting to the Senior Driver you will ensure the provision of professional driving for all nominated tasks as required to meet or exceed customer and company expectations. Working with Babcock and RAF Stakeholders.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- fuel bowser driving on shift to support flying operations, Daily/ weekly and any other maintenance and checks required to ensure vehicle safety and compliance to support flying operations,
- Control all vehicle related administration within DVSA/RAFMT/DGSA ( not to appear in the advert but explanation of acronyms DVSA – Driving Vehicle Standard Association – RAFMT RAF Military Transport – DGSA Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor) and Babcock guidelines, and ensure all personal licences, medicals and competencies are maintained.
- You will also assist in the ground movement of aircraft and be a key part in our flight-line operations.
- You’ll be preparing aircraft for the upcoming days flying, conducting see-in and see-off procedures as well as being authorised to carry out fuel and oil replenishment on the aircraft.
This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Benson.
Essential experience of the Driver – Handler:
- Must have had previous experience as a driver but as long as they hold their Cat C then current driving role doesn’t need to be military.
- Driving experience.
- Customer service experience.
Qualifications for the Driver – Handler:
- PSV, LGV C on licence, & ADR Qualified (candidates who do not hold all licenses will still be considered as long as they hold the C element)
- Clean Driving Licence
- Working knowledge of Transport & Driver legal requirements
- Meet eye colour vision of CP2/CP3 for airfield airside operations.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain EDBS and CTC security clearance for this role.
