Expected Salary: $81,738 to $118,065

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for the occupational Health & Safety of all direct reports;
  • Be responsible to the Senior Manager - Electrical Engineering for the technical aspects of assigned projects;
  • Be responsible to the Project Manager(s) for the on-time delivery of assigned projects in accordance with own estimates (budget and schedule);
  • Draft, review, and approve (where delegated) electrical engineering client deliverables as well as internal policies and procedures;
  • Work collaboratively with other technical and non-technical departments within an integrated team environment to deliver engineering projects;
  • Provide mentoring and direct professional supervision and oversight within a team of engineers and technologists; and
  • Identify risks, impacts, mitigations and opportunities for improvement.

 

The ideal candidate brings:

  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in BC, ON or NS in good standing;
  • 8+ years of electrical engineering experience in the naval, marine or related industry;
  • Knowledge of naval, marine (or related) electrical engineering standards (for example, equipment development, installation development, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), hazardous areas, cable selection, termination and glanding, etc.);
  • Knowledge of naval, marine (or related) electrical power system design and maintenance;
  • Knowledge of systems engineering standards and methods for managing the technical integrity of complex assets using a System-of-Systems framework;
  • Experience with development of low volume, custom electrical equipment (including modified Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) or Non-Developmental Items), from concept design through to manufacture, testing and in-service support;
  • Experience working in a shipyard or similar heavy industrial environment and knowledge of safe electrical work practices would be considered an asset.
  • ETAP experience (specifically AC and DC load flow) would be considered an asset.
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
