In this role, you will:


  • Manage R&O activities to ensure those services meet the Materiel Certification requirements for Victoria Class Submarines
  • Assist the R&O Manager as required with the day to day operation and management of materiel support activities. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Investigating equipment obsolescence, price, and availability
    • Managing designated R&O contracts as distinct projects
    • Assisting other Babcock departmental personnel with determining requirements for work tasks
    • Assisting with purchasing and cataloguing requirements
    • Providing assistance to the client in the capacity of Materiel Support subject matter expert, as required
    • Generating scheduled reports as well as bespoke reports, as required
  • Assist with the set up and management of a Canadian-focused R&O pipeline by engaging off-shore Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) with a view to conducting their work in Canada or establishing licensed representatives in Canada
  • Assist in the development and implementation of processes and work instructions for the performance of R&O activities
  • Assist with and implement performance improvements to Maintenance and Repair Program(s) (MRP)
  • Lead and implement new initiatives as developed for value added activities
  • Conduct and/or assist with Technical Investigations
  • Act as the section deputy during regular duties and section head in the absence of the R&O Manager
  • Perform other duties as necessary


As our ideal candidate,


  • You have a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience; naval experience in a hard sea technical trade, such as marine engineering, is highly desirable; prior experience as a Life Cycle Material Manager (LCMM) is highly desirable
  • You have past supervisory and/or leadership experience
  • You are knowledgeable in materiel management for major equipment and/or systems
  • You are proficient in MS Office products and MRP systems
  • Experience working in Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS) is considered an asset
  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems, such as SAP, IFS, is considered an asset
  • You are eligible for Canadian NATO Secret Security and ITAR Clearances
