The role
As a Driver - Handler you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll have a key role working within a small but highly effective Transport Services team, where the highest standards will be expected. You'll be required to drive and operate a wide range of general and specialist vehicles, from Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV, which include cars, minibuses and coaches), to a rigid tanker, Large Goods Vehicles (LGV). You'll be responsible for making sure RAF personnel, equipment and vehicles get to the right place, at the right time! 

Day-to-day you’ll be responsible for:

• Fuel tanker driving on shift to support flying operations, Daily/ weekly and any other maintenance and checks required to ensure vehicle safety and compliance to support flying operations, 
• Control all vehicle related administration within DVSA/RAFMT/DGSA (not to appear in the advert but explanation of acronyms DVSA – Driving Vehicle Standard Association – RAFMT RAF Military Transport – DGSA Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor) and Babcock guidelines, and ensure all personal licences, medicals and competencies are maintained. 
• Conducting see-in and see-off procedures as well as being authorised to carry out fuel and oil replenishment on the aircraft.

This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Cranwell, near Sleaford. The shift roster is made up of the following, shifts range from 7am 7pm and 10.30am – 10.30pm at night and also late finishes as business requirements 7 days a week.

Essential experience of the Driver – Handler:

• Must have had previous experience as a driver but as long as they hold their Cat C then current driving role doesn’t need to be military.
• Adaptable and evidence of previous experience to work on their own initiative.
• Strong timekeeping requirements and Working knowledge of Tacho graphs.
• Working knowledge of Transport & Driver legal requirements

Qualifications for the Driver – Handler:

• PSV, LGV C on licence, & ADR Qualified (candidates who do not hold all licenses will still be considered if they hold the C element) 
• Current DCPC card and also need a digital tachograph card
• Clean Driving Licence on a C qualification as a minimum hold C level
• Meet eye colour vision of CP2/CP3 for airfield airside operations.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain DBS security clearance for this role.
