• Develop your technical and leadership skills in a secure, high‑integrity environment with real national impact.
About You
You bring a strong foundation in electronic, communications or electrical maintenance, with experience applying your technical expertise to high‑integrity systems. You are confident inspecting, assessing, testing and repairing complex RF communications equipment, and you understand the importance of quality processes when working with defence‑grade assets. You can interpret detailed drawings, maintain accurate digital records and work effectively within established procedures, codes and standards. You hold a relevant technical vocational qualification or certificate, and ideally an electrical trade certification or unrestricted electrical licence. You are comfortable working in secure environments, able to meet the requirements for an Australian Government NV1 security clearance, and have no restrictions regarding access to FOUO or ITAR‑controlled material. You also hold a current driver’s licence and a Construction Induction Card. Above all, you take pride in delivering reliable technical outcomes, maintaining high operational standards and contributing positively to a team that supports critical national capability.
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, assessing, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing RF communications equipment and associated facilities that support the Defence High Frequency Communications System. You will play an important part in sustaining the existing system while also supporting the implementation and operation of the upgraded Enhanced DHFCS. Your work will involve applying your technical discipline knowledge to deliver effective solutions, producing technical documentation under guidance, conducting risk assessments and ensuring all engineering and maintenance activities meet required standards. You will investigate system failures, carry out fault‑finding, maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure mission systems and control equipment continue to meet operational requirements. You will plan and deliver your own tasks to meet time, quality and cost expectations, assist with special projects and technical investigations, and support the RF Communications Technical Supervisor in achieving performance and system health targets. The role requires adherence to all HSE and Trade Controls requirements, maintaining high security and operational standards, and integrating the Babcock Principles into your daily work as you contribute to the delivery of a critical defence service.
