The role

As a Dozer Operator, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working in partnership with Mid Kent College Training Services and Pearson TQ, Babcock helps deliver training to over 6,500 Royal Engineers per annum at the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME).

 

Primarily you’ll operate Plant Equipment to maintain the plant training areas within the RSME, in direct support to PearsonTQ in their delivery of the plant training.  You will also drive/operate Military and Commercial pattern vehicles and plant equipment e.g. wheeled, tracked, roller and towed vehicles and haulage equipment in support of contracted tasks.


Day to day, you’ll:

 

  • Handover/takeover Military and Commercial pattern vehicles and plant equipment between Amey Briggs and sub-contractor/customer including the loading and unloading of plant and equipment on/off plant haulage/transporter vehicles. 
  • Be responsible for providing a transport service, which includes driving a variety of military and civilian vehicles, on and off road.
  • Maintain Plant Training areas.
  • Responsible for carrying out a high standard of Level 1 (User) maintenance (Before, During & After Use Checks) on a wide range of Military and Commercial pattern plant, haulage vehicles and trailers.
  • Assist with the handover/takeover of plant between commercial provider and sub-contractor and carrying out Level 1 (User) inspections at handover.
  •  Transport eligible personnel and/or equipment to and from the appropriate training exercise or other entitled military duty and ensure their safe carriage

 

Essential experience of the Dozer Operator:

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Customer focused with the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Flexible approach to working hours; overtime may be a necessity, but not guaranteed.
  • Ability to work both as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer literacy.

 

This role full-time, Monday to Friday, based onsite at Chatham.

 

Qualifications for the Dozer Operator:

  • If you have a loading shovel, excavator, JCB or similar plant ticket, we would like to receive your application 
  • Hold a valid CPCS or equivalent professional plant accreditation.


The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
