The role
As a Barton Base Pilot, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Babcock Mission Critical Services Onshore (BMCSO) is a leading provider of mission-critical helicopter services to the air ambulance and police sectors throughout the UK.  BMCSO provides world-class operations to our customers helping them to save lives and protect communities every day.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll support HEMS operating the helicopter, as well as:

  • Fly for the Northwest Air Ambulance charity.
  • Health and safety responsibilities and strong understanding of required Aviation regulations
  • Experience of night tasking

 

This role is a single pilot position based at the Barton base. You will be required to reside within 25 nautical miles or 45 minutes of Barton.

 

Essential experience of the Barton Base Pilot:

 

Either:

 

  • 1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours is pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters; or
  • 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations of which 500 hours is as pilot in command under supervision and 100 hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters.

 

Must have the following in addition to either of the above 2 points:

  • 2000 hours minimum total helicopter experience.
  • 500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the intended operation.
  • 20 hours VFR at night as pilot in command.
  • Fluent English, Driving License, Passport, Right to Work in the UK.

 

Candidates would also ideally:

  • Be qualified and instrument rated on the EC135.
  • Have current or recent HEMS experience.
  • Have experience of NVIS operations.


Security Clearance

  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain DBS Clearance.
