Previous training experience is ideal, however, if you can bring your technical skills then we would like to hear from you. We will support your career development and Teacher Training certification, once in post.

 

The Role
As a Vehicle Technician Trainer, you'll have a role that is out of the ordinary. You'll join a team of talented training professionals who deliver technical courses to military students of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME). 

 

The Army boasts many types of vehicles, from tanks and quad bikes to HGVs and Land Rovers. Keeping them in good working order is the responsibility of the Vehicle Mechanics; the technical training our students receive at REME gives them the knowledge and confidence to tackle any engineering problem, enabling them to keep our vehicles on the road - even in extreme conditions. 

 

Day-to-day, you'll be delivering vehicle maintenance / technical training in line with curriculum requirements:

 

  • Preparing and delivering instruction on course modules, including lesson plans, training aids, workbooks and trainee handouts
  • Carrying out the assessment of trainees, to include creation of written examinations and practical assessments
  • Setting and marking of coursework/homework; marking exam papers and invigilating at examinations/assessments
  • Ensuring student development through monitoring, feedback appraisal, discipline and training interventions
  • Ensuring all records and supporting documentation are updated, maintained and filed correctly,
  • Focusing on Health and Safety and maintaining a safe working environment at all times

 

This role is full-time and based on-site at MOD Lyneham in Wiltshire.


Essential experience of the Vehicle Technician Trainer:

  • Vehicle Technician background
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to motivate and encourage others with empathy and patience
  • Knowledge of a military environment and equipment (desirable)
  • Knowledge of the REME trade structure and operational requirements (desirable)
  • Knowledge of JAMES (Joint Asset Management and Equipment Solutions)  (desirable) 

 

Qualifications for the Vehicle Technician Trainer:
A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. Provided you can show the required level of technical experience and willingness to learn, then full training and funding will be provided to gain Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training during the probation period. Once gained the salary for this position will rise to £37,223.

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
