The role
As a Workshop Technology Trainer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be delivering training courses within the Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (DSEME) which is required for trainees in support of the Defence College of Technical Training.


Day-to-day, you will teach military engineering students basic hand tool skills that will include fitting, drilling and grinding. You will also need to create and prepare relevant teaching and learning materials, support and guide students as they progress through the course.   
  

  • To prepare and deliver instruction on course modules in the practical training of hand skills, bench fitting, cranes and workshop technology in support of the training pipeline including lesson planning, training aids, workbooks and Trainee handouts.
  • To create and prepare relevant teaching and learning materials, utilising modern learning technologies, including the use of Technology Enhanced Learning and the development of Virtual Learning Environment content, collaborating where necessary with the Media department and Digital Learning Advisors.
  • Assist with the technical administration of training, course design processes, teaching and learning materials and equipment.
  • Maintain a Continuous Personal Development (CPD) portfolio in respect of SQEP, new technologies and equipment, future training commitments and personal development requirements.
  • Review course material and content ensuring it is current and evolves to support equipment and technology advances, using the most appropriate training aids.


This role is full time working 37 hours per week and is based on site at Lyneham. 

 

Essential experience of the Workshop Technology Trainer:

  • Working with measuring equipment and other types on engineering calibration tools such as gauge blocks & slip gauges.
  • Manufacture / fabrication to engineering drawings.
  • Fabrication with hand tools.
  • Have good craft/technical skills
  • Have previous experience of Engineering bench fitting / Milling and Turning.

 

Qualifications for the Workshop Technology Trainer: 

  • Minimum CGLI City & Guilds part 3 or above, NVQ Level 3
