Day‑to‑day, you’ll be:

  • Delivering weapons training, including stripping, assembling, diagnosing faults and completing maintenance tasks.
  • Developing and updating lesson plans, training materials and practical exercises using current equipment and standards.
  • Assessing learners through written tests, practical assessments and continuous feedback.
  • Reviewing and refreshing course content to reflect evolving engineering practices and safety requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate training records and ensuring training environments, equipment and weapons meet safety and security standards.

 

This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based onsite at Lyneham.

 

Salary rises to £39,679.10 Upon completion of L4 CET qualification.

 

Essential experience of the Armourer:

  • Experience as a REME Armourer, Royal Navy Weapons Engineer, RAF Armourer or Police Armourer.
  • Strong craft and technical engineering skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate, encourage and support learners with patience and empathy.

 

Qualifications for the Armourer:

  • Class 1 Armourer qualification.
  • Level 3 Engineering qualification or significant experience with weapons/armament systems.
  • Willingness to study Level 4 Teacher Training certification (CET) once in post.

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
