The role

As a Shift Driver, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a vital role at RAF Northolt, carrying out driving duties. This airfield is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year so the role could be clearing seasonal snow in large LGV platforms to allow flights to remain active to carrying out VIP driving duties. 

Day to day, 

• transport RAF personnel, including coach driving. 
• You will carry out seasonal snow and ice clearance in large LGV platforms, to allow critical flying to remain active.
• You will be covering on base duty vehicle driver requirements, carrying out VIP driving duties, and completing and maintaining Driver Analogue Tachograph Discs and Driver Digital Cards. 

Essential experience of the Shift Driver

• Hold full clean driving license with categories B, C, and D.
• You must pass a Colour Perception test for aerodrome access and should be colour perception (CP) standard of Red Green CP2 (safe) or CP3 (defective/safe).
• Driver Vehicle Standard Authority (DVSA) Category D Licence with no more than three current Penalty Points.
• Driver qualification card CPC, LGV and PSV. 
• ADR class 1 and 3 (desirable).
• You must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role. This will include background checks.

This role is full time and is based on site at Ruislip

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
