The role
As a Semi-skilled Mechanic, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll support the workshop by carrying out a range of tasks safely and efficiently, applying your skills and expertise as needed.
Day-to-day, you’ll service, maintain and repair vehicles components and accessories, in line with company, client and/or manufacturer's instructions, including removal and refitting in a safe, proper and economical manner using equipment provided. You’ll also:
- Operate a 'Fix First Time' way of working ensuring quality of work is at the utmost standard and meets/exceeds any inspection carried out against it
- Follow operator's license process and procedure to safeguard the company's license
- Observe, recognise and report on defects and/or symptoms of impending failure
- Identification of recharge costs advising the workshop supervisor and correct completion of paperwork
- Order from the parts department all necessary replacement parts, ensuring that no parts are fitted to vehicles other than those required to complete the work
This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based on site at Ruislip.
Essential experience of the Semi-skilled Mechanic:
- Experience in servicing and repairing HGVs/LGVs/LV’s
- Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to actively seek solutions to problems
Qualifications for the Semi-skilled Mechanic:
- Full UK Class C1 driving licence – must either hold a valid license or must be able to obtain one during the probationary period
- Level 2 in Servicing/maintenance HGV/LGV/LV
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
