The role

 

As a Head of Training, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working with the London Fire Brigade leading our Incident Command, Leadership, USAR and Tech Rescue training departments. You will provide an efficient and effective training delivery function for the business such that business targets and objectives for growth, income and margin are achieved.

 

Day to day, you’ll Deliver customer and key stakeholder requirements to meet statutory and legal obligations.

 

  • Business Management: Lead and manage the Training Delivery function and company processes to support ISO accreditation. Ensuring that resources (people, financial or assets) are in place and developed to meet business strategies and strategic direction, standards and requirements.
  • Resource Management: Execute appropriate and timely strategic reviews of the function to ensure alignment of Training Delivery function with and support of business strategies, customer, and stakeholder requirements consistent with annual training plans and customer priorities.
  • Personnel Management: Responsible for overseeing the employee lifecycle (recruitment through to exit processes) and employee relations (disciplinary, grievance, welfare). Ensure that training records are fully compliant for employees and Personal Development Reviews are kept up to date. Providing coaching and mentoring to support the development of individual and appropriately recognise and reward strong staff performance.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Monitor changes and developments in industry best practice, and ensure plans, projects and procedures are put in place such that the business remains competitive, compliant & socially responsible entity.
  • Business Growth Support: Identify business opportunities within the existing and new customer base, ensure assembly and submission of bids and tenders to grow the business consistent with business financial and growth targets.

 

This role is a permanent full time position and will be based at our Southwark site. 

 

Essential experience of the Head of Training:

 

  • Experience of working within emergency response/resilience markets
  • Knowledge of government/authority legislation
  • Commercial/contractual awareness
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience of building strong relationships with key stakeholders


Qualifications for the Head of Training:

 

  • Educated to Degree level or extensive experience within the required field.
  • Completed Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Managing Safety (Desirable)


The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS security clearance for this role.
