The role
As a Breathing Apparatus Trainer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. To deliver engaging, practically based, high energy lectures and assessments to ensure students understand and can utilise breathing apparatus and understand fire behaviour and firefighting techniques.
Day-to-day, you’ll deliver an excellent student experience in accordance with the programme requirements.
- Provide teaching, learning support and undertake observations to ensure students’ progress timely through their programme.
- To develop highly motivated students who proactively engage with learning and transfer knowledge, skills, and behaviours to the workplace, and enable them to integrate theory with practice through reflection.
- Provide feedback and appropriate student support.
- Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and is based at either Park Royal or Beckton.
Essential experience of the Breathing Apparatus Trainer
- Comprehensive understanding of the fire service and the evidence base current context, challenges, and issues gained either through previous operational or training experience.
- Fire service experience (beneficial)
- Excellent literacy, numeracy and communication skills
- Ability to support, motivate and inspire others, driving performance and professionalism.
